Harry Styles loses Twitter crown in shock takeover by One Direction's dark horse Niall Horan

When Louis Walsh predicted that Niall Horan would be the winner of the One Direction split, the Internet could barely contain its mirth.
But fast-forward 12 months and it turns out he was bang on the money, with the band’s resident good guy overtaking Harry Styles as the most popular 1D-er on Twitter.
In a shocking takeover, Slow Hands singer Niall has scooped himself a whopping 30.9 million followers, leaving bad-lad Harry and his 30.8 million for dust.
Niall Horan admits he hopes Simon Cowell doesn't hate him after he ditched Syco record label for "fresh start"

And he’s closing the gap on Instagram too, where Niall's 19.5 million is beginning to pose a real threat to his bandmate’s 21.2 million.
For now though, the Instagram crown remains with moody Zayn Malik, who was the first to jump ship and has 23 million followers.
New dad Liam Payne has just 13.7 million - although you'd think he'd be more popular with his slew of shirtless selfies.
