Did Karan Johar try to overshadow Saif Ali Khan at the IIFA Awards 2017?

Saif Ali Khan is reportedly peeved that Karan Johar did not stick to the script while hosting the IIFA Awards and kept changing the lines.

Their "Nepotism rocks" act did not go down too well, but that is not why Saif Ali Khan is upset with his IIFA 2017 co-host Karan Johar, who came up with the idea of the joke. DNA reports that there were "major issues" between the two behind the scenes.
According to an actor who attended the award show, "Initially, Saif and Karan got along very well. They had rehearsed their lines, skits and acts. Saif is very particular about their lines together on stage. He wanted their on-stage time to be equally divided with an equal number of jokes, punchlines, etc."
Apparently, it all went south when Karan began changing his lines on stage. Saif did not take too kindly to Karan trying to eclipse him on stage and made his displeasure known to his friends. Word got around, and Karan soon found out about Saif's resentment.
But a source close to the filmmaker told the publication that Karan had no intention of overshadowing Saif. "It's not clear how this happened, because the hosts always read from the teleprompter. Karan is so comfortable on stage, so he may have said some spontaneous things to improvise, which may have disturbed his co-host. But I doubt he did that to steal Saif's thunder," the insider said.

Pahlaj Nihalani is furious with IIFA 2017 and he might be right for once

Over the last couple of years, CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) chief Pahlaj Nihalani's words have come to mostly be associated with disbelief. Be it not giving a certificate to a film for being 'lady-oriented' or blurring a bra in another, Nihalani is quite (in)famous for walking on the road less taken as far as certifying films is concerned.
However, even as we rub our eyes in disbelief over Pahlaj Nihalani not allowing some film trailer to have the word 'intercourse' in it, the man has now spoken out about the just-concluded International Indian Film Academy Awards and... (wait for it) he might have a valid point here.
The IIFA Awards, better known as the IIFA 'extravaganza' is a three-day event that takes place every year. And the lavish three-day affair has left Nihalani fuming. He told Hindustan Times, "Look at the hypocrisy. They haven't even nominated Aamir Khan for Dangal and Akshay Kumar for Airlift and Rustom just because they wouldn't attend their weekend holiday plans masquerading as an awards function."
Incidentally, Akshay Kumar picked up the Best Actor trophy for his performance in Rustom at the 64th National Film Awards, in May this year.
Nihalani also alleged that several actors did not even attend the award show because they were "too tired after partying all night".
"They were too tired after partying all night. What I want to know is, who is paying for this extravagance? It is our foreign exchange being squandered as every top star is given tickets for his spouse, children, parents, ayahs, bodyguards, friends, friends of friends... I have heard stars are even given money to shop. Who is paying for all this? IIFA is selling Indian cinema to various countries and probably getting many financial benefits. But is the Indian government benefiting from this global event?" Nihalani asked.
The CBFC chief did not stop there. "I think the day Mr (Amitabh) Bachchan opted out, IIFA lost its dignity and relevance. In 18 years, how much global impact has Indian cinema made and what hand did IIFA have in this?"
He is not happy with the kind of representation that film industries other than Bollywood is getting at IIFA either.
He says, "Initially we had cinema from various states getting token representation at the awards. Now we only have Bollywood. So why do they call themselves the International Indian Films awards? It's such a sham! Bollywood is not Indian cinema."
IIFA this year has been in the news for many reasons; not all of them pleasant. From Karan Johar and Varun Dhawan's potshots at Kangana Ranaut's nepotism remark to Sushant Singh Rajput's apparent dig at the awards after the Best Actor snub, IIFA 2017 has attracted much attention.
Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt were awarded the Best Actor and Best Actress trophies respectively at the IIFA awards this year.
